About the project
Duncan and Phillipa had planning permission for a ground floor rear and side extension to create a generously proportioned kitchen/living/dining room, separate utility room, cloakroom and study as well as a loft conversion providing two additional bedrooms and a bathroom. The property had not been modernised for quite some time, so they thought that if building works were going to be done anyway, they would take the opportunity to rewire, replumb and refurbish throughout too.
As Duncan and Phillipa started to think about finding a builder they opened their front door one morning and noticed that J Build were building an extension at their neighbour’s house directly opposite. They approached their neighbour to ask if the project was going well to which she replied: “Perfectly, J Build are doing a great job, they were recommended to me by my cousin who they also did work for”. That was music to Duncan and Philippa’s ears and filled with the confidence they
asked J Build to quote. Not only highly recommended, J Build’s quote was also competitive and the most transparent of all the companies that were invited to bid, so they were commissioned for the project.
Before long the construction started and true to form J Build made fast progress with the project. As a period property built circa 1900, some nice design features were included sensitive to the style of the house. Matching reclaimed London stock facing brickwork, leadwork detailing to the loft dormers, French doors and sash windows rather than more contemporary glazing options such as sliding or bifolding doors. When everything was complete Duncan, Philippa and family were really
pleased with the end result, it was as if they had a brand new home.
